Chaos surrounding the new club World Cup. Only FIFA needs the tournament

FIFA has been criticised from all sides in recent times. The organisation is criticised by fans for its new tournament formats and by players for its overloaded calendar. But Gianni Infantino and his team intend to go all the way, even though there is not the slightest interest in the reformed club World Cup.

At least that's what Calcio e Finanza assures us. It is reported that both broadcasters and sponsors are not drawn to the Club World Cup. For example, FIFA had intentions to give the television rights to one company worldwide, and it was thought that Apple would be that company, but the Apple brand withdrew its bid.

It is also unknown where FIFA will get the reported four billion dollars in profits from the tournament. However, hopes are relying on Saudi Arabia, who can thus promote the 2034 World Cup.

The fact that the tournament is nine months away and we still don't know which stadiums will host its matches and who will be the team that will get the wild card as the host (the tournament will be held in the USA) is quite astonishing.

It should be recalled that back in the summer, clubs in England and Spain put forward the idea of boycotting the new Club World Cup.
