Kobbie Mainoo is fully determined to stay with the team and reclaim his spot in the squad.
Details: According to The Sun, Kobbie Mainoo is set on continuing his career at Manchester United, despite a challenging year under Ruben Amorim. The relationship between Mainoo and Amorim had already been strained before the incident when his half-brother wore a shirt reading “Free Kobbie Mainoo” at Old Trafford during the 4-4 draw with Bournemouth in early December.
It’s worth noting that he started in only 16 out of 61 matches under Amorim, with his last appearance in the starting XI coming in a humiliating League Cup defeat to Grimsby back in August. The club rejected his loan request in the summer. Mainoo has missed the last three games due to a calf injury, further decreasing his chances of a mid-season move.
Recall that Mainoo signed with the club at the age of 17 in February 2023 and has since become a regular first-team player. His current contract runs until 2027, with an option to extend for another year. Transfermarkt values him at €40 million.
Reminder: Manchester United are also interested in RB Leipzig's Ivorian winger Diomande.
