Napoli defeated Cagliari 2-0 in the final round of Serie A, clinching the fourth championship title in the club’s history. The team was then honored with a championship reception by the Pope.
Details: On Tuesday, May 27, the Neapolitans visited the new head of the Vatican, Leo XIV. The gathering was attended by the players, head coach Antonio Conte, and club president De Laurentiis. They presented the Pope with a plaque bearing the number ten and the signatures of Napoli’s squad.
It was previously reported that Antonio Conte, despite leading Napoli to the championship, will leave the club on May 27—on that very day, a final meeting will confirm the decision to end their collaboration.
Reminder: Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis commented on rumors about a possible transfer of De Bruyne to his team, confirming his interest in the Belgian and revealing that De Bruyne has already started looking for a villa in Naples.
