Ricardo Centurión has found himself in the spotlight once again in Bolivia, but this time for non-football reasons. Just days after returning to professional football following a 728-day hiatus, the former Boca Juniors and Racing midfielder was falsely linked to a traffic accident.

In response, Oriente Petrolero, Centurión’s new club, released an official statement to clarify the situation. “We want to inform our members and supporters that our player Ricardo Centurión was not involved in any accident, and his vehicle was not part of any incident,” the statement read.

The club also noted that the first team trained as usual at Kalomai Park and is fully focused on their upcoming match against The Strongest.

Centurión has made three appearances since signing with the Bolivian side, marking a significant return to football after various off-field controversies in Argentina. Oriente Petrolero currently sits 14th in the league standings with just three points from six games.

Reflecting on his time away from football, Centurión said: “I disappeared from football for personal reasons. I had lost motivation. But now I feel good again and I’m enjoying what I had lost.” Sunday’s fixture could be a turning point for both the player and his struggling team.
