Central Lines Up Key Friendlies as Di María’s Debut Draws Closer

Rosario Central have kicked off preseason training with double sessions at their Arroyo Seco facility, as they wait for the return of several international players. According to Rosario3, manager Ariel Holan’ side has confirmed two friendlies ahead of their Copa Argentina clash against Unión, scheduled for June 28.
The first match will be played on Wednesday, June 18, against Defensa y Justicia in Buenos Aires. A second match will follow against Sarmiento at their home base. These games are seen as key tune-ups before the new season begins. Star signing Ángel Di María remains unavailable for now as he prepares to compete in the Club World Cup with Benfica. He is expected to join Central after the tournament and a short rest period.
Meanwhile, Central confirmed the departures of Jonatan Gómez, Miguel Barbieri, and Sebastián Ferreira. Negotiations continue with Tottenham regarding Alejo Véliz, while reports from Spain link Ezequiel “Chimy” Ávila with a potential move—though his camp has played down the likelihood of a transfer this window.
The club also unveiled the "Presidents' Walk" at their Gigante de Arroyito stadium. The ceremony, led by president Gonzalo Belloso, honored former club leaders Federico Flynn, Víctor Vesco, and Alejandro Rodenas with commemorative busts, celebrating their lasting impact on Central’s identity.
