Celtic Open Contract Talks With Kelechi Iheanacho After Impressive Season
Scottish Premiership champions Celtic have reportedly opened talks with Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho over a new contract following his impressive performances last season.
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill confirmed that the club are keen to keep the Super Eagles forward, who played a key role after joining on a free transfer.
Speaking about Iheanacho's future, O'Neill admitted he hopes an agreement can be reached before the start of pre-season.
“I’d like to do something with him, [Iheanacho]” O’Neill was quoted by Celtic Way.
“If we can do something relatively quickly, at least he then gets started in pre-season, which is really important for him. It’s something he didn’t have last year.”
Iheanacho enjoyed an impressive campaign at Celtic, scoring several important goals as the Hoops secured a domestic double.
