Celtic fans insult Prince William during Champions League clash against Aston Villa
Prince William, a longtime supporter of Aston Villa, attended his favorite team’s Champions League match alongside his 11-year-old son, Prince George. However, the evening took an ugly turn as Celtic fans targeted the British Royal Family with insults, reports Daily Mail.
According to British media, the Scottish supporters chanted offensive slogans about the Royal Family, even referencing William’s late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away two years ago. They also encouraged fellow fans to clap in unison “if you hate the Royal Family.”
In the Celtic fan section, a banner featuring Michael Fagan—the man who famously broke into Queen Elizabeth’s bedroom in Buckingham Palace in 1982—was also displayed. This could lead to UEFA sanctions against the Scottish club.
In response, Aston Villa fans defiantly sang the British national anthem, "God Save the King."
Villa’s players, meanwhile, let their performance on the pitch do the talking, securing a 4-2 victory over Celtic to cap off the night.
