Carlos Queiroz Expresses Pride as He Returns as Ghana Head Coach Ahead of AFCON 2027 Qualifiers

Carlos Queiroz has confirmed his reappointment as Ghana's head coach less than two months after resigning from the role following their heartbreaking World Cup round of 32 exit.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) officially announced Queiroz’s reappointment as the Black Stars prepare for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.

Queiroz also confirmed his return in a statement shared on Facebook, expressing his pride at continuing to lead Ghana.

“Dear Ghanaian football fans,

“It is with immense pride and honour that I confirm my continuation as Head Coach of the Black Stars of Ghana.

“Serving Ghana is far more than coaching a football team. It is a privilege, a responsibility and a mission to honour one of Africa’s greatest football nations and its incredible and passionate football people.

“I am proud of what our players, staff and Federation achieved together under challenging circumstances at the 2026 World Cup final competition. Their courage, discipline and commitment restored belief, competitiveness and the Pride of a Nation.

“Now, a new chapter begins.

“The Africa Cup of Nations is much more than our next destination — it is the golden gateway to building the Black Stars that will shine and proudly compete at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

“Our ambition is clear: improve every day, unite the nation, make Ghana stronger and fight for every victory with passion, humility and pride.

Queiroz will now begin his second spell in charge of the Black Stars with two important AFCON 2027 qualifiers.

Ghana will face Côte d’Ivoire on September 23 before taking on The Gambia on September 27.
