As Cape Town City FC gear up for their do-or-die battle to remain in the Betway Premiership, the club has confirmed the exit of two more players, adding to the recent departure of midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo.

Veteran playmaker Thulani Serero, who only joined the Citizens in February on a short-term deal, will also be moving on. However, the 35-year-old former Ajax Amsterdam and Al Jazira star has committed to seeing out his contract, ensuring his experience remains available for the high-stakes Promotion/Relegation Playoffs.

Serero, back in South African football after 10 years in Europe and the UAE, has featured in seven matches since his return. His presence could prove vital as CT City fight to secure their top-flight status.

Meanwhile, the club will be without Darwin Gonzalez and Amadou Soukouna for their upcoming clash against Orbit College FC at Cape Town Stadium. Gonzalez, the Venezuelan winger, was due to become a free agent at the end of June, but negotiations over a new deal collapsed, prompting an early exit.

During his two-year spell with the Citizens, Gonzalez made 103 appearances, contributing 16 goals and 9 assists, including five goals in 29 matches this season. His departure marks the end of an era for one of the club’s key attacking players.

With the playoffs looming, CT City must now rely on their remaining squad—including the seasoned Serero—to avoid the drop.
