Canales Speaks Out After Training Dispute With Demichelis
Sergio Canales addressed the recent controversy involving a heated exchange with Rayados head coach Martín Demichelis, publishing a video statement on Monday to clarify the situation and reassure teammates and fans. The video was released via Canales’ social media accounts.
“I don’t regret anything that happened. I haven’t done anything wrong. I’ve never tried to hurt this team, a club I truly feel part of,” said the Spanish midfielder. He explained that the situation stemmed from a moment of frustration and an intense, yet constructive team discussion.
The incident occurred last Thursday, and reports later revealed that Canales suffered an injury after kicking a door in frustration. The impact left him with a wound that required ten stitches, preventing him from playing in Rayados’ weekend victory over Chivas.
Demichelis has downplayed the clash, saying that he maintains an open-door policy with players and that Canales merely voiced his tactical views during the session.
Despite the media attention, Canales emphasized his dedication to Monterrey. “I’ve remained silent out of respect, but I want to put an end to this. Everyone knows how committed I am,” he concluded.
