Cameroon’s U20 women’s team beat Tanzania and are one step closer to qualification
Score: 3-1
The Lionesses dominated the first leg of the final round of African qualifiers for the U20 Women’s World Cup.
On Saturday 2 May, the Cameroonian side hosted their Tanzanian counterparts at the Mfandena Multi-Sports Stadium. In front of their home crowd, the Cameroonian women pulled out all the stops.
The Lionesses got the better of the Tanzanian Queens. Maeva Nyadjou scored twice (37th and 49th minutes) before Kiki Meva netted Cameroon’s third goal. A valuable victory for the Cameroonian U20 Lionesses, who will travel to Zanzibar on 10 May for the return leg.
If Cameroon can repeat their performance in this second leg, they will secure their place at the 2026 U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
