Cameroonian striker Karl Toko Ekambi could be set for a return to Ligue 1

A free agent since leaving Al-Arabi SC in Qatar, the Cameroonian international is reportedly being considered by Marseille as an option to bolster their attack in the closing stages of the transfer window.

According to Foot Mercato, Marseille are in talks with Karl Toko Ekambi’s representatives. His experience and knowledge of the French league are said to have caught the Marseille club’s attention. This makes the 33-year-old Cameroonian an attractive option for Marseille’s management, who are looking to bolster their attack.

Karl Toko Ekambi has a thorough understanding of Ligue 1, the league in which he made his professional debut. Having come through the ranks at Paris FC, he went on to play for Sochaux, Angers, Lyon and Rennes.

Since leaving Lyon in 2023, Karl Toko Ekambi has played for several clubs in the Gulf. The Cameroonian international played successively for Abha Club in 2023–2024, Al-Ettifaq in 2024–2025 and Al-Fateh SC in 2025–2026 in Saudi Arabia, before joining Al-Arabi SC in Qatar.

But the Cameroonian striker could soon be returning to France’s Ligue 1.
