Cameroon will not be participating in the 2026 Montaigu Tournament

It's a blow for Cameroon, which will not be taking part in this year's Montaigu Tournament. Although the Cameroon Football Federation had announced the team's participation and initiated a training camp in December 2025, the U16 Lions will not be in Vendée, France.

They have not been invited, the organisers told the media outlet Allez les Lions, expressing their surprise at the FECAFOOT announcement. ‘Indeed, the Cameroonian Football Federation announced Cameroon's participation in the Montaigu World Cup, much to our surprise. However, other teams have been invited and we are not counting on the presence of a Cameroonian team this year.’

Cameroon is not among the participants announced for the 2026 edition of the Montaigu Tournament. France, China, Ivory Coast and Brazil are in Group A, while Group B includes Japan, Peru, Mexico and Portugal.
