CAF Unveils “ITRI” — A Moroccan-Inspired Match Ball for AFCON 2025 CAF Online

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed “ITRI,” the official match ball for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), showcasing Africa’s culture, rhythm, and craftsmanship.

Created in partnership with PUMA, the ball draws inspiration from Morocco’s famous zellij art — a traditional mosaic tilework known for its geometric patterns and deep symbolism of unity. According to CAF, “ITRI” means “star” in Tamazight, reflecting both the red star on Morocco’s national flag and the iconic star motifs found in zellij design.

CAF’s Creative Development Manager, Mohamed Ghonemi, described the ball as “created for the rhythm of African football,” adding that it “brings together art, motion, and a design shaped by African spirit and Moroccan craftsmanship.” He praised the collaboration with PUMA for producing a design that “unites every nation at the tournament through a shared sense of connection.”

With advanced panel construction for aerodynamic precision and vibrant visuals, ITRI embodies African energy and pride. The ball will debut on December 21, 2025, when hosts Morocco face Comoros at Stade Mohammed VI, marking the kickoff of AFCON 2025.
