CAF to organise training camp for referees ahead of Champions League and Confederation Cup group stages

The Confederation of African Football wishes to prepare its match officials ahead of the start of the group stages of its inter-club competitions. The continental governing body has selected 50 officials for a training camp to be held in Cairo, Egypt, from 18 to 23 November 2026.

Among the participants are 35 Category A match officials, selected for this preparatory session. A further 15 officials will also take part in the camp as part of a specialised VAR training programme.

This training camp comes ahead of the group stage of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup. It will enable the selected referees to hone their skills and prepare for the demands of the continent’s two main inter-club competitions.

VAR will be introduced from the group stage of both competitions for the first time this season. CAF therefore intends to prepare its officials for the demands of refereeing at this level of the competition.
