A Nigerian football fan, Oluwatosin Nathan, has been rewarded with free Africa Cup of Nations tickets after his post on X about the cost of travelling to Morocco went viral. Nathan, who lives in France and works at Google, compared the cost of attending AFCON 2025 with visiting Nigeria in December. He said flying to Morocco with his wife, staying eight days, watching three games and renting a car “is cheaper than one person’s flight to Nigeria in December.”

The post gained massive attention online, prompting the Confederation of African Football to respond through its official account. CAF wrote: “We hear you, and you can redo the math now. Your match tickets for you and your wife are on us….” The gesture sparked excitement among fans, especially as Nigeria prepares for a high-pressure tournament.

The Super Eagles head to Morocco aiming for a fourth AFCON title after finishing as runners-up last year. However, preparations are mixed, with Benjamin Fredrick injured and captain William Troost-Ekong reportedly stepping aside. Still, hopes remain high with Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman expected to lead the charge when the tournament kicks off on December 21.
