CAF Secretary General steps down
Veron Mosengo-Omba officially announced his departure on Sunday 29 March during a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football.
A chapter in the history of African football’s governing body is coming to a close. One of CAF’s most iconic and influential figures, Mosengo-Omba has decided to step down. After more than thirty years as Secretary General, he submitted his resignation in a letter.
After more than 30 years of an international professional career dedicated to the ideal of football that brings people together, educates and creates opportunities that bring hope, I have taken the decision to step down from my role as CAF Secretary General to devote myself to more personal projects. Now that I have been able to clear the suspicions that some went to great lengths to cast upon me, I can step down with peace of mind and without constraint, leaving CAF more prosperous than ever.
