A formal announcement has been made by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to move the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 from Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda to August 2025. Although there has been significant improvement in stadiums, training grounds, hotels, and hospitals, CAF's technical and infrastructural experts have suggested that the deadline be extended in order to satisfy the criteria needed to host the renowned tournament.

The dedication of the Presidents of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda to further preparations was praised by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe. He said he was certain that the required improvements will be made to guarantee a top-tier competition.

The draw for CHAN 2024 will proceed as planned on January 15, 2025, in Nairobi. CAF will announce the exact tournament dates in due course.
