CAF Fines Moroccan FA $415,000 Over Misconduct in 2025 AFCON Final
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed a total fine of $415,000 on the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) following multiple incidents of misconduct during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
The sanction comes after CAF conducted a detailed review of events surrounding the final, which was marred by inappropriate behavior involving players, technical staff, stadium officials, and supporters.
According to CAF, the Moroccan FA was found guilty of several disciplinary breaches that violated the principles of fair play, integrity, and respect for match officials.
Below is a breakdown of the fines imposed on the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following incidents during the match:
- $200,000 fine for the inappropriate behavior of the stadium’s ball boys during the match.
- $100,000 fine for the improper conduct of Morocco’s national team players and technical staff, who invaded the VAR review area and obstructed the referee’s work. CAF ruled that this action violated the principles of fair play and integrity, in accordance with Articles 82 and 83 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.
- Mr Ismaël Saibari was also fined USD 100,000.
- $15,000 fine for the use of laser pointers by Moroccan supporters during the match.
