CAF Confederation Cup: USM Alger 1 – 0 OC Safi
USM Alger achieved a remarkable feat by defeating Olympic Club de Safi 1-0 in the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup. The Algerian club confirms its form and takes sole possession of first place in its group.
The match was intense in the first half with several chances that went unconverted. In the second half, the pace increased. Safi pressed forward at home, notably through Abderrahmane Kassak and Salaheddine Errahouli, but Benbot once again saved his team with several crucial saves.
In the 84th minute, following a well-constructed attack, Riad Benayad found Zakaria Draoui in the box. The Algerian midfielder controlled the ball and fired a right-footed shot into the bottom corner. A precious goal that completely changed the game.
USM Alger now has six points from two matches and is already nearing qualification. OC Safi, on the other hand, will have to react quickly to stay in contention.
