CAF Confederation Cup: the full draw for the preliminary rounds announced

On Thursday 6 August, the Confederation of African Football held the draw for the preliminary rounds of the Confederation Cup.

A total of 56 clubs will take part in the 2026–2027 edition of the competition. In accordance with the African club rankings, 8 teams have been given a bye in the first preliminary round and will enter the competition directly at the second round. These are Al Ahly, Azam FC, USM Alger, CR Belouizdad, Raja Casablanca, AS FAR, AS Maniema and Kaizer Chiefs.

The remaining 48 teams will have to go through the first preliminary round, where they will face each other in two-legged ties. The winners will join the 8 exempted clubs to form the 32-team draw for the second preliminary round.

The first-leg matches of the first preliminary round will be played from 4 to 6 September 2026, whilst the second legs are scheduled for 11 to 13 September. The second preliminary round will take place from 16 to 18 October for the first legs, with the return legs scheduled for 23 to 25 October 2026.
