CAF Confederation Cup (Matchday 2): Al Masry defeats ZESCO United 3-2
Al Masry achieved another great feat this Friday by defeating ZESCO United (2-3) in the second matchday of the CAF Confederation Cup. After beating Kaizer Chiefs (2-1) in their first match, Nabil Kouki's men followed up with a victory in Zambia against ZESCO United.
In the 4th minute, Mohamed Hashem opened the scoring after a perfectly controlled start. But ZESCO responded instantly. A brilliant long ball from Kabaso Chongo in the opposing half found Freddy Kouablan, who equalized just eight seconds after the first goal. A record-breaking speed and an absolutely incredible turn of events that immediately reignited the game.
Despite this unexpected blow, Al Masry remained composed. In the 24th minute, Mounder Temine restored his team's lead (1-2). In the second half, the visitors pressed forward even further to extend their advantage. Abderrahim Deghmoum, set up by an excellent Mounder Temine, scored the third goal in the 68th minute, putting Al Masry in a commanding position.
With 6 points from two matches, Al Masry firmly established themselves at the top of Group D, pending the other match between Kaizer Chiefs and Zamalek. For ZESCO United, the situation is becoming critical with two defeats in two matches, a worrying last place in the standings, and mounting pressure on Mathews Ndhlovu and his staff.
