CAF Club Rankings 2026/27: Mamelodi Sundowns Overtake Al Ahly as Africa's Top-Ranked Club

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released its latest club rankings ahead of the 2026/27 season, with a significant change at the top of African football.

For the first time in recent years, Mamelodi Sundowns have climbed to the summit of the continental rankings, ending Al Ahly's reign as Africa's highest-ranked club.

Following their impressive continental performances, the South African champions accumulated 73 points, enough to move ahead of Egyptian giants Al Ahly, who slipped to second place with 66 points.

Tunisian powerhouse Espérance Sportive de Tunis occupy third place with 58 points, while RS Berkane of Morocco and USM Alger complete the top five.

For Nigerian clubs, Rivers United are the country's highest-ranked side, occupying 24th place with 15 points, while former African champions Enyimba are ranked 45th with four points.

Ghanaian clubs also feature on the list, with Dreams FC ranked 32nd after their memorable CAF Confederation Cup campaign, while Medeama SC sit 54th.
