CAF Champions League: Incidents during the MC Alger – Al Hilal match, the verdict awaited
Last Friday, November 21, at the Kigali Stadium, incidents occurred during the match between Al-Hilal Omdurman and Mouloudia Club d'Alger. Following this difficult first matchday of the African Champions League group stage, the CAF Disciplinary Committee has officially opened an investigation into the incidents that occurred.
CAF has asked the management of both clubs to provide detailed explanations of the events that took place immediately after the final whistle, before the players headed to the locker rooms, and which subsequently involved supporters of both teams. CAF will inform both clubs this Thursday of the disciplinary decisions adopted, after reviewing the correspondence, the match commissioner's report, and the referee's report.
In this context, the silence of Mouloudia Club d'Alger's management following the incidents in Kigali contrasts sharply with the strategy adopted by the Sudanese club, which attempted to portray itself as a victim to the CAF.
Al-Hilal, in particular, issued a statement through its general secretary, Hassan Ali Issa, denouncing the "aggressive behavior" of the Algerians, while denying any provocation by its player Jean-Claude towards the Mouloudia bench and its video analyst, Walid Cherchar, who was implicated in the controversy.
