CAF Champions League: APR FC does not want to play its first leg of the preliminary round against Aigles du Congo in the DRC

The Rwandan club has cited several concerns in its request to CAF, notably the health situation linked to the Ebola outbreak, as well as security issues and political tensions in the region.

The first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League is set to kick off next September. However, with the start of the qualifying rounds approaching, the Rwandan club, APR FC, has asked the Confederation of African Football to relocate its first-leg match of the first preliminary round against the Aigles du Congo outside the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The Rwandan champions wish for this match, originally scheduled for 5 September 2026, to be played in another country. APR FC has cited the health situation linked to the Ebola outbreak, as well as security concerns and political tensions in the region, to support its request.

However, CAF is seeking further clarification before making a decision.
