The group stages of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and CAF Cup 2024/25 season concluded in dramatic fashion, finalizing the quarter-final line-ups for Africa’s premier club competitions.

CAF Champions League Highlights

Reigning champions Al Ahly SC (Egypt) headline the eight teams advancing to the knockout stages, joined by fellow Egyptian side Pyramids FC, making their debut at this stage. Other qualified clubs include:

  • Al Hilal (Sudan)
  • AS FAR (Morocco)
  • Espérance de Tunis (Tunisia)
  • Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates (South Africa)
  • MC Alger (Algeria)

Six of these clubs are former champions, with Al Ahly pursuing an unprecedented 13th title, while Pyramids and Al Hilal aim to secure maiden victories.

CAF Cup and Nation Rankings

In the CAF Cup, Egypt continues its dominance, achieving a full house with all four clubs progressing, including Zamalek and Al Masry.

Algeria and South Africa performed admirably, securing three representatives each across both tournaments. Meanwhile, Morocco sees mixed fortunes with two qualifiers, while Tunisia’s Espérance de Tunis stands alone as its sole representative.

The knockout stage draw, which is scheduled to start in March and promises exciting matches as the best teams on the continent compete for glory, will shortly be announced by CAF.
