CAF Awards: Guineans continue their criticism after Guirassy's exclusion
Guirassy's exclusion has sparked controversy surrounding the organization of the 2025 CAF Awards. As the CAF Awards ceremony approaches, to be held this Wednesday, attention has already shifted from the festivities to a heated debate: the absence of Sehrou Guirassy among the three finalists for the African Player of the Year award.
While Mohamed Salah, Achraf Hakimi, and Victor Osimhen will compete for the crown in Rabat, many observers believe that Guirassy undoubtedly deserved a place among the three finalists.
His season speaks for itself: Champions League Golden Boot winner, top scorer at the Club World Cup, second-highest scorer in the Bundesliga, top African scorer in Europe, 21st in the Ballon d'Or rankings, and named among the best strikers by FIFA.
According to observers, Guirassy's performances surpass those of some finalists, notably Victor Osimhen, whose season, while solid, doesn't display the same statistical dominance.
