CAF AWARDS: African Ballon d'Or (Men’s Player of the Year), a dream come true for Achraf Hakimi
The Moroccan PSG player, Achraf Hakimi, has won the first African Ballon d'Or (Men’s Player of the Year) of his career. After an outstanding season with PSG, Achraf Hakimi was deservedly named African Player of the Year at the 2025 CAF Awards in Rabat.
While this award was one of his priorities, Achraf Hakimi has just realized his biggest dream. Proof of this lies in his comments during an interview before the CAF Awards.
« The African Ballon d'Or? I don't think about it constantly, but now that I have a chance to win it, it has become a dream." “I have worked hard to win titles, both team and individual, and now that I am among the players shortlisted to win it, » Hakimi explained to PSG TV a few weeks ago.
In front of his home crowd on November 19, 2025, in Rabat, the Moroccan, still recovering from an ankle injury, proudly lifted this individual trophy, undoubtedly anticipating doing the same in a month with a team trophy, such as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Hakimi has now added his name to the list of African football legends like Mané, Salah, Aubameyang, Drogba, Eto'o, Yaya Touré, and George Weah.
