CAF Awards 2025: Morocco’s Yassine Bounou Named Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year
Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has been honored as the CAF Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year at the 2025 CAF Awards, held on Wednesday in Rabat, Morocco.
Bounou was a rock for the Atlas Lions throughout Morocco’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, starting every game and playing every minute of the team’s fixtures, including all five matches in 2025. Over the course of the qualifiers, he conceded only two goals across eight games, showcasing his incredible consistency and skill.
In his acceptance speech, Bounou thanked Morocco and expressed his gratitude to Morocco, his family, and his teammates, who have made his ongoing journey possible.
