Amir Abdou made a successful debut as head coach of the Burkina Faso national team. Facing Guinea-Bissau on 28 March, in the first leg of their two-legged tie during the international break, Burkina Faso never looked in doubt. They controlled the match from start to finish.
The hero of this match, played in Ouagadougou, was Elohim Kaboré, who distinguished himself with a resounding hat-trick after Landry Kaboré opened the scoring in the 25th minute and Dango Ouattara doubled the lead in the 39th. Elohim Kaboré, who opened his scoring account for the Burkina Faso national team, found the net three times, in the 60th, 72nd and 88th minutes.
