Following impressive group stage performances, Burkina Faso and Zanzibar will square off in the Mapinduzi Cup final. With victories of 2-0 over Tanzania Bara and a 1-1 draw against Kenya, Burkina Faso, who have been undefeated in three games, guaranteed their place. With a thrilling 1-0 victory over Kenya, secured by Ali Khatib's header in stoppage time, Zanzibar secured their spot.

An important prelude to the African Nations Championship (CHAN) for teams is the Mapinduzi Cup, which is conducted every year to honor the Zanzibar Revolution. This year, the final promises an exciting showdown at the Gombani Stadium on January 13, with Zanzibar aiming to win the trophy in front of jubilant home fans.

Kenya’s Harambee Stars exited the competition amid controversy. Reduced to 10 men in the second half, they conceded in the 93rd minute after contentious officiating, including 15 minutes of added time. Despite their disappointment, Kenya now shifts focus to CHAN 2025, which they will co-host starting February 1.

The triumph, which is Zanzibar's first home victory against Kenya since 1970, adds interest to the final matchup with the Burkina Faso Stallions, who are well-prepared.
