Bundesliga club's newcomer could go to prison for six years

Kashima midfielder Kaishu Sano recently moved to German Mainz, but it looks like he will spend the near future in jail instead of the Bundesliga pitches.
According to Bild, the Japanese is accused of rape along with his two youth national team teammates, Taiki Yamamoto and Hayato Takeuchi. It all happened in a hotel room that was booked for a short time, between 2.30am and 4am.
The victim, a 30-year-old woman, immediately contacted the police and the footballers were immediately arrested and taken to the police station. Sano and Yamamoto reportedly confessed to the offence, but Takeuchi denied all charges.
Under Japanese law, the players could face up to four years in prison, but as the offence was committed by a group of people, the punishment could rise to six years.
Mainz, who paid 2.5 million euros for the 23-year-old midfielder, are trying to contact Sano's agent and lawyer, but so far to no avail.
