For the first time since 2022, Argentine football will feature a match with both sets of supporters in Buenos Aires. The AFA has confirmed that the Pedro Bidegain Stadium — San Lorenzo’s home ground — will host the Copa Argentina Round of 32 clash between Argentinos Juniors and Excursionistas on Wednesday, May 28 at 5:00 PM.

This game will serve as a pilot test for the return of away fans in CABA, marking a historic moment for domestic football. It will also be the first Copa Argentina match ever played at the Nuevo Gasómetro. The last time a match with two fanbases took place in the capital was the 2022 Champions Trophy between Racing and Tigre at Huracán’s stadium.

AFA president Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia has voiced strong support for making this a regular occurrence. “We have to make it happen,” he said. “Football is different when both fanbases are present. If we can do it in the Copa Argentina, why not in the league?"
