New details have surfaced regarding the ongoing legal case investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of hockey-playing brothers Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. According to TMZ, court documents reveal that the brothers’ blood alcohol levels were higher than that of Sean Higgins, the driver who fatally struck them.

Defense attorneys for Higgins submitted evidence indicating that Johnny had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.129, while Matthew’s was 0.134. In contrast, Higgins’ BAC was lower, recorded at 0.087.

However, Higgins’ legal team has not argued that the Gaudreau brothers' intoxication played any role in the fatal accident.

The tragic incident occurred on August 29, 2024, when Higgins, who was under the influence, hit the Gaudreau brothers with his vehicle while they were cycling.

Higgins faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and aggravated vehicular manslaughter. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.

A new court hearing in the case is scheduled for late March.
