Brighton and West Ham secure narrow victories in the Europa League
In the fifth round of the Europa League, two English teams, West Ham and Brighton, played away matches against Backa Topola and AEK, respectively.
Backa Topola - West Ham 0:1
In the first half, the hosts had less possession, but were slightly sharper. However, neither team managed to score. In the second half, West Ham prevented the opponent from creating attacks in response. In the dying minutes, the English team secured the victory. In the 89th minute, Soucek scored a goal.
West Ham maintains the top spot in Group A with 12 points.
AEK - Brighton 0:1
Brighton focused more on defense in the first half, and they were fortunate that AEK did not capitalize on their chances to score. At the start of the second half, Brighton earned a penalty and converted it. Juan Pedro scored the decisive goal.
Brighton collected ten points in Group B and temporarily took the lead in their group.
