Breaking! Semi-automated offside technology to be introduced in Premier League's 32nd round
For a long time, the Premier League has been discussing the implementation of semi-automated offside technology. Now that moment has arrived, and soon we will see it in action.
Details: According to Sky Sports, for the first time, the system will be used in the matches of the 32nd round of the English Premier League on Saturday, April 12. Indirect testing and checks have already been conducted during the FA Cup matches.
The Premier League regulations for the 2024/2025 season confirmed the introduction of the new technology in the current season, but its launch was postponed until April.
The FA Cup's round of 16 became the first stage this season where the VAR system will be used. Unlike the offside detection technology, VAR will be applied in all matches, not just those where the host is a Premier League club, as was previously the case.
Reminder: The Premier League announced the dates for the opening and closing of the 2025 summer transfer window. According to the official statement, clubs have agreed on the calendar, taking into account the Club World Cup.
