Breaking News: NPFL Sanctions Bendel Insurance and Coach Kennedy Boboye Over Misconduct

The Nigeria Premier Football League has handed down heavy sanctions to Bendel Insurance and their head coach Kennedy Boboye following multiple offences during their recent home fixture against Plateau United in Benin City.

According to the league body, Bendel Insurance were found guilty of several breaches, including failure to provide adequate security, acts of unsporting behaviour, and holding match officials hostage for about 40 minutes after the game. As a result, the club has been fined a total of N5 million—N2 million for poor security arrangements, N1 million for conduct capable of bringing the league into disrepute, and another N2 million for the post-match incident involving officials.

Coach Kennedy Boboye was also sanctioned for his actions during the encounter. The NPFL suspended him for 17 matches and imposed a N2 million fine for gross misconduct towards match officials, an act the league described as a violation of fair play principles.
