BREAKING. Liverpool have already reached out to Xabi Alonso about a potential return

Liverpool have made the first move toward a possible appointment of Xabi Alonso, reaching out to the Spanish manager's camp.

Details: According to Diario AS, Liverpool representatives have asked whether Alonso would consider a return to the club, and received a positive response—even though the coach is currently on a break following his stint at Real Madrid.

Back in the spring of 2024, Alonso turned down offers from both Bayern and Liverpool, choosing instead to continue his development at Bayer. Now, the situation has changed—he no longer has any doubts about a potential return to Anfield.

Liverpool see Alonso as a candidate for the near future or the 2026/27 season, while being aware that current manager Arne Slot will see out the ongoing campaign. Slot's position remains unstable amid the team's unconvincing results, despite significant summer spending.

It's worth noting that Liverpool currently sit fourth in the Premier League, a standing that is casting further doubt over Arne Slot's future at the club.

Reminder: Liverpool are set to sign a contract with Fulham's American defender Antonee Robinson.
