Breaking! Jürgen Klopp has started talks with Atlético Madrid
The departure of Diego Simeone seems inevitable, and the Colchoneros management is already preparing to search for his successor.
Details: According to the Spanish outlet PipiEstrada1, Atlético Madrid’s board has opened negotiations with 58-year-old Jürgen Klopp regarding a possible appointment as head coach once Diego Simeone leaves the club.
It is reported that initial contact between the parties has already taken place, and Klopp has admitted he admires Atlético, stating that compared to giants like Real and Barcelona, the Colchoneros are a more modest club—and reaching the top with them would be far more exciting.
Currently, Klopp continues to work at RB Leipzig as director of international relations and advisor to the management, but he is ready to leave Germany when the time comes to take charge at Atlético.
Diego Simeone’s contract with Atlético Madrid expires in the summer of 2027 and is unlikely to be extended. Simeone took over the Colchoneros back in 2011, leading them to two La Liga titles, two Europa League triumphs, two UEFA Super Cups, and one Spanish Super Cup. This season, Simeone still has a chance to win another Copa del Rey with Atlético if they can defeat Real Sociedad in the final.
Reminder: "I hope we meet in the Champions League" - Diego Simeone comments on the match against Barcelona
