With the new Formula 1 season approaching fast, team pre-season testing is just around the corner—and these sessions could prove decisive for one of the drivers.
Details: According to Cameron, Ferrari representative and F1 legend Lewis Hamilton could decide to retire if the team’s car testing in Bahrain turns out disastrous for the Scuderia. Moreover, he could make this decision even before the start of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
Ferrari, Audi and Honda had complained that Mercedes and Red Bull had allegedly found a way to bypass the rules and develop engines with a compression ratio of 18:1, while the 2026 regulations set a maximum of 16:1. If true, this could increase power output by around 15 horsepower, potentially providing a competitive advantage on track.
Reminder: Max Verstappen has declined the status of reigning Formula 1 world champion and will not race with the number 1 next season. However, he also will not return to his iconic number 33.
