The upcoming World Cup has once again found itself at the heart of controversy.

Details: In an interview with DPA, Iran’s Minister of Sports, Donyamali, announced that the Iranian national football team will not participate in the upcoming 2026 World Cup, which is set to be held in the United States.

Donyamali stated that the United States has no right to host such events due to its military and political aggression toward Iran:

"Given that this corrupt government killed our leader, we cannot take part in the World Cup under any circumstances. In the past eight to nine months, we have been forced into two wars that have claimed the lives of thousands of our citizens. Therefore, we are unable to participate in the tournament under these conditions," the Iranian Minister of Sports declared.

Now, FIFA faces the task of deciding which team will replace Iran in Group G, where Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand are also competing.

Reminder: The 2026 World Cup may be postponed. The reason has been revealed
