BREAKING. Inter announced the signing of Iranian striker from Porto
European clubs continue their active work in the transfer market, and Italian champions Inter are no exception. Today, the Nerazzurri announced the signing of 31-year-old forward Mehdi Taremi from Porto.
The Iranian's contract with the Portuguese club expired at the end of last season, and he joined Inter as a free agent.
Taremi began his career with several Iranian clubs before moving to Qatar in 2018. After playing two seasons for Al-Gharafa, he moved to Europe, signing with Portuguese club Rio Ave. It was there that he caught the eye of Porto scouts, and within a year, the capital club acquired him for €4.7 million.
The forward played 182 matches for Porto, scoring 91 goals and providing 44 assists. In the last season, Taremi saw less playing time and chose not to renew his contract with the club.
Mehdi Taremi is third on the list of top scorers for the Iranian national team. He has been representing his country since 2015, scoring 50 goals in 85 matches. Notably, Taremi is the first Iranian player in Inter's history.
According to Nicolo Schira, Taremi's contract runs until 2027, and his salary will be €3 million per year with additional bonuses.
