BREAKING! Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi leaves Young Africans three months after his appointment
Young Africans have announced the immediate termination of their partnership with head coach Manqoba Mngqithi. The Tanzanian club's official channels reported the news.
The decision comes amid the team's poor results in the league. Following Saturday's draw with TRA United, Young Africans have fallen five points behind leaders Simba, who are coached by another South African specialist, Steve Barker.
Mngqithi took charge of Young Africans in July 2026, signing a two-year contract. Before moving to Tanzania, the 55-year-old coach worked with South African clubs Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns, where he spent more than a decade in various roles on the coaching staff.
Mngqithi's most significant achievements came with Mamelodi Sundowns: he was part of the coaching staff of the team that won the CAF Champions League in 2016, as well as domestic trophies in South Africa. Earlier, while working with Golden Arrows, the coach won the MTN8 Cup.
