The start of the 2026 Ballon d'Or awards ceremony in London has officially been postponed by thirty minutes.

Details: According to Spanish sports broadcaster Movistar+, the main reason for the schedule change was extremely heavy traffic on the streets of the English capital. Severe congestion in the city centre prevented numerous club delegations, star nominees and invited celebrities from reaching the venue on time and walking the red carpet.

The award organisers and television broadcasters had to make immediate adjustments to the live broadcast schedule, giving late-arriving guests an additional half an hour to take their seats in the auditorium. After the forced delay, the ceremony will proceed according to the approved programme, with all individual and team awards for the season to be presented.

It is worth noting that the landmark 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony has captured the attention of millions of fans due to the unprecedented secrecy surrounding the identity of the main winner. Ten finalists are competing for the title of the world's best footballer of the year, with Bayern Munich's Harry Kane, Barcelona's Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé considered the leading favourites.
