As América de Cali prepares for its 2025 Copa Sudamericana debut against Racing de Montevideo, the Colombian club is already making headlines in Brazil. Ahead of the Group C opener, Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte has identified América as one of the main threats in the tournament, even placing them ahead of several domestic contenders. The team is currently enjoying a strong run in the Colombian league and enters the continental stage with rising expectations.

Globo's analysis highlighted América’s status as league leaders, their 21 goals scored and just six conceded in 11 games, and above all, the presence of midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero. The 32-year-old, once a star at River Plate, had previously drawn interest from top Brazilian clubs including Flamengo, Internacional, and Grêmio.
