Boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. found himself behind bars just days after his bout with Jake Paul. According to Fox 11 LA, he was arrested by immigration and customs enforcement officers in Studio City, California.

The athlete was reportedly taken into custody on suspicion of arms trafficking and links to a cartel. The warrant was issued in connection with Chavez’s alleged involvement in organized crime and the trafficking of firearms, ammunition, and explosives.

“This Sinaloa Cartel affiliate with an active arrest warrant for trafficking guns, ammunition, and explosives was arrested by ICE. It is shocking the previous administration flagged this criminal illegal alien as a public safety threat, but chose to not prioritize his removal and let him leave and COME BACK into our country,” said Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Trisha McLaughlin regarding the arrest.

It has also been reported that Chavez Jr. will soon be deported back to Mexico.
