Borussia Dortmund's sporting director has explained why the club failed to sign Sherki

Borussia Dortmund's sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, confirmed that the club was in the race for Lyon midfielder Ryan Cherki but ultimately failed to secure his signing.

Quote. "There were indeed talks with Lyon about Cherki. We wanted to sign him. He didn't join because we couldn't reach an agreement. We’re not going to interfere in Lyon's game in the media," the official told Fabrizio Romano.

It was reported that the French midfielder could leave Lyon based on an oral agreement for €22.5 million.

This season, the 21-year-old has scored 5 goals and provided 8 assists in 25 appearances across all competitions for the "Lions."
