Borussia Dortmund management holds meeting with Ralf Rangnick
Borussia Dortmund’s management is in search of a new head coach following the dismissal of Nuri Sahin. One of the candidates for the position is Austria’s national team coach, Ralf Rangnick.
Details. According to Florian Plettenberg, a secret meeting between Dortmund’s executives and Rangnick took place on Monday in Salzburg. The Austrian coach met with Hans-Joachim Watzke and Lars Ricken.
The Borussia Dortmund management explored whether Rangnick could immediately take on the role of head coach. He is also being considered as a candidate for the summer.
At present, Rangnick is leaning towards rejecting Dortmund’s offer. His contract with the Austrian Football Association runs until the end of 2025.
Reminder. Niko Kovač remains an alternative candidate. Dortmund would prefer to appoint a coach until the end of the current season, but the Croatian insists on a long-term contract through 2026 or 2027.
