Bologna aims to acquire the experienced German defender

Bologna will play in the UEFA Champions League next season and aims to strengthen its squad accordingly. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports on his website that the team is in contact with German defender Mats Hummels.

According to the source, Bologna has already reached out to the player’s representatives regarding a potential transfer. However, no formal offer has been made yet.

The 35-year-old German defender is currently a free agent after his contract with Borussia Dortmund expired at the end of last season.

It was previously reported that two other Serie A clubs, Como and Roma, are also interested in Hummels. Como is allegedly ready to offer him a salary of 3 million euros per year plus bonuses.

Last season, Mats Hummels scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist in 40 matches.
