The second edition of Bolivia’s Women’s Football League begins this Friday, with 28 teams competing for the chance to represent the country in the 2025 Copa Libertadores Femenina. As reported by EFE, the tournament features the 16 professional clubs from the top division, regional association teams, and six invited sides from last year’s competition.

The Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) hailed the start of the league as a major milestone for the women’s game in the country. Teams will be split into five geographic zones and grouped into eight pools. The top two from each group will advance to the round of 16, with the knockout stage determined by draw.

Always Ready, reigning champions and winners of the last three titles, will defend their crown without star player María Cristina “Coquito” Gálvez—dubbed the “Bolivian Messi”—who transferred to Italian futsal after leading her team to victory in 2024.

Opening matches include Wilstermann vs. Exótico Premium and GV San José vs. Real Oruro. The action continues through the weekend, with Always Ready facing Bolívar in Monday’s marquee matchup. The tournament will run through August, ushering in a new chapter for professional women’s football in Bolivia.
